Some Ad:Tech Thanks

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Meetin' Mad Peeps | Posted on 17-11-2009

I know that I’m late to the Ad:Tech party, but better late then never.  Ad:Tech was moved to the Jacob Javitz center this year.  It’s a much bigger venue and the show was very well done.  If you haven’t been to Ad:Tech NY yet, I highly suggest you check it out next year.  It’s a great place to find new traffic sources, vendors and meet up with old friends.  Thank you to Ad:Tech for having me at the event.

I did a few things throughout the week worth mentioning.

Dinner With Affiliate.com

Affiliate.com had a fun dinner at Carmines NYC.  The food is served family style which always makes for an intersting dining experience.  I sat at a table with Scott Richter, Brittany, Murray Newlands, Jay Weintraub and some other industry people.  It was a great time and I want to thank Brittany for inviting me and Scott Richter for having me!  Damn shame I forgot to pick up an affiliate.com shirt because they had one of the coolest shirts at the show.

KARAKTR Media Cocktail Party

I’ve known Luke from Karaktr Media for quite some time.  He invited me to their cocktail party.  It was at this weird venue where you had to walk through a maze of halls and elevators to get to the party area.  It was kind of spooky and kind of cool at the same time.  The party was a blast.  Drinks were flowing and I got to hang out with some of my favorite industry people like Waynedog, Bryn Youngblut and Dr Ngo.  Thanks to Karaktr.

Pinnacle Dream VIP Area At Heroes And Headliners

Pinnacle Dream have always been really nice to me.  They invited me and Bryn to chill in their VIP table service area at the Pacha Party.  It was good times and a fun club.  Wes from Pinnacle Dream knows that I don’t drink alcohol so he smuggled Mexican Coke’s (made with real sugar) all the way from California into the club for me.  It was a nice gesture and the Cokes were good.  Thanks to Pinnacle Dream for having me.

Anyone else do cool stuff at Ad:Tech?

Affiliate Summit East 2009 Day 3 Wrapup

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Ad Hustler, Affiliate Marketing, Meetin' Mad Peeps | Posted on 12-08-2009

By day 3 of Affiliate Summit everyone seemed beat.  Rightfully so though, since I think everyone was running on only a few hours of sleep.

I spent some more time at the Exhibit Hall making connections and speaking to companies.

I was supposed to meet up with the head of the Ebay Partner Network for an interview but we seemed to miss each other as I was in the press room and they were waiting outside.  I chilled there for a while (there is a bigger part to this story that I’m going to break into another post)

I ended up leaving around 3:30pm so I could go home an recouperate.

Overall I give Affiliate Summit East NYC 2009 at 10/10 rating.  If you are an affiliate or interested in the business, there is no doubt in my mind you should attend this event.  Whatever price you pay will never be enough to make up for what you will learn and who you will meet.

Affiliate Summit East 2009 Day 2 Wrapup

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Ad Hustler, Affiliate Marketing, Meetin' Mad Peeps | Posted on 11-08-2009

Affiliate Summit day 2 went along swimingly.  The exhibition hall opened up and it was jam packed with exhibitors and attendees alike.  Some of the exhibitors were new and some were the same tried and true companies that appear at every Affiliate Summit.

It seems that exhibitors go all our for Affiliate Summit and there were a lot of pimped out booths.  Convert2Media’s booth took the cake with a bar setup.  They had a large screen TV, a keg on tap and bar stools.  This solidified Convert2Media as “the peoples network.”  They were also giving away the best shirt of the conference; a Billy Mays memorial shirt.

At 2pm Meetup202 NYC had a large meetup.  I would say 200+ affiliates came and mingled with one another.  The Meetup202 culture is great and it was a good way for people to meet and make new contacts.

After the formal Affiliate Summit, the infamous Affiliate Summit night scene began.

MediaWhiz/MonetizeIT took myself, Bryn Younglut, Dennis Yu and some others to a Yankees Luxury Box Suite.  I’ve never been in a suite before and it was amazing.  It’s like chilling in a hotel room overlooking the Yankees Game.  They had tons of food, drinks and great company.  A big thank you goes out to these guys.  I’ve done a lot of cool things with affiliate networks but this is probably the #1 pimpest thing an affiliate network has done for me (Time to step up your game networks, contact me if you want to top a Yankees Luxury Suite).

After the game we headed back to the Hilton, got changed and went to Touch for the Heroes & Headliners party with Biz Markie.  We got there late and missed Biz Markie but the party was kicking and Emily Thompson got me and my boys up to the VIP section to chill (because you know we are VIPs right?).  We partied for a while and then headed out when they closed down the club.

Next was a bar near the London with a bunch of well known affiliates and the #WFASE crew.

Because a night can’t end at Affiliate Summit, next we went back to the Pinnacle Dream suite at the London.  There were only a few people there so it was nice and quiet as well as relaxing.  I got tired at this point and called it a night.

Affiliate Summit Day 2 was a rousing success and I am now looking forward to leaving the hotel room and starting Day 3.
