• Parties where there is a chick hanging from the ceiling pouring drinks are awkward.
• Kim Ann Curtin (You’ve Probably Read Her Articles HERE) did an interesting session on “UnNetworking.”  I liked her interactive format and I liked that she breaks the mold over what most people do in their sessions.
• I like being able to hook people up who can help each other, and NO, not so I can take a piece of the action like many of the scumbags i’ve met in this industry.  Pay it forward baby.
• It almost seems like some of the affiliate networks are leaning towards BEING the “Super Affiliate” rather then trying to recruit/service tons of new affiliates.
• I always like when a company “get’s it.”  There has been this law firm at the last few Affiliate Summits called Ifrah Law.  They had a big ad outside their booth that said “1 weird old tip to shrink your legal liability….” with a parody of the famous weight loss ad that it’s obviously based off of.  I’m sure that it’s rare that you are going to find a law firm or any company for that matter that actually GETS IT.  Seems like these guys (and gals) do.
• Brian Hawkins should start his own ecommerce business for unusual pants.
• I like hanging out with both CPA & CPS affiliates for different reasons.
• It doesn’t seem promising when a website spent time trying to get me to run their offer and then when I go to the offer the domain is expired.
• There was a gang of like 50 old people walking around the expo floor who were obviously sold some bizopp that takes them to Affiliate Summit.  I followed them around a bit to hear what was going on and feel kind of bad for them because I doubt many of them will ever make any money with this.  “What’s HTML?  Do you build websites?  I have $10 to spend.”
• Shawn Collins and Missy Ward of Affiliate Summit are some of the most giving, generous & genuine people in the industry and i’m proud to be a part of their show.

• Our 10am “How To Pitch Your Business” session went awesome.  So many people showed up that people were all standing in the back.  Seriously surprised me but was really cool.
• We had a chick ask a question in what I think was Chinese during the session. It took all of my power not to completely bust out laughing.
• A lot of people come up to me saying I should speak more.
• Kim Rowley only looks at the most 35 to me.
• There seem to be A LOT less affiliates around then there used to be.
• Most affiliates are socially awkward.
• Apparently if you want to check into a hotel early you need an intimidating black guy.  Me & Ian Fernando both tried to check in to the hotel early and they said no and were kind of rude to boot, Ian brought back a big black guy and it was a done deal, checked in with ease…
• Prosperent is the most underrated affiliate network at Affiliate Summit.  Almost no one knows who they are yet I think they are going to blow up in the next couple of years.
• Seems like most affiliate networks are diversifying beyond traditional niches into app and game development.
• If an affiliate network takes you out don’t be obnoxious and order the most expensive bottle of wine on the menu.  I heard from an affiliate network that they took some loser $2/month affiliate out and he ordered a $4,000 bottle of wine.  Don’t be greedy, it’ll come back and bite you in the ass….I guarantee it!
• Although i’ve heard people say that Shareasale parties are lame, they really do an great job putting them together and they are the only parties where you can actually talk to people.  They had 3 rooms, a quiet room where you could talk, a room with food, and the Dance/bull riding room.  Cool theme & Good Job.
• I’m suggesting that in the Affiliate Summit welcome bags, they get a Deodorant sponsor because there are some people here with serious hygiene problems.
• NDemand Affiliate Network knows how to sponsor a dinner (Ian Fernando’s Dinner to be exact).  First they aren’t pushy at all and they know how to socialize.  They are a family owned company and it’s hard NOT to like the people they brought.  They took us out to Del Friscos which was fantastic and everyone had a blast.  NDemand even bought us all Gucci mousepads as gifts which I thought was a funny/memorable gift.  They are having a Puerto Rico meetup for affiliates and based on the time I had last night i’m considering going. Info.
• Of course my server has issues while I’m typing this so i’m off to deal with support!

Ad Hustler’s Thoughts: This is a freakin’ cool event.  I like when companies think outside the box and this event is definitely outside the box.  They are going to bus people to Citi Field, have a party and some people are even going to get to do batting practice on the field.  I hope Globalizer does well with this because it’s really creative.

Affiliate Summit East 2011 is quickly approaching.  As always I am doing my best to get a party list together so you can stay entertained on your trip to New York.  I have a feeling that the party scene is going to be a little more subdued.  From what I know, networks are hurting and probably not going to be throwing down a lot of cash on open invite parties.  That means less parties and the ones that are happening will be more exclusive. If you’re a network having a party, hit me up to be included in the list.

On my trip to Vegas I attended Affiliate Ball.  It was unlike any “affiliate party” i’d seen.  It was more of a concert and a much different experience then any other affiliate event i’d been to.  They had big name acts playing like Three 6 Mafia.  They also had Too Short & Digital Underground for their Ad Tech San Francisco party.  The point of this story is that they are doing Affiliate Ball again in New York.  It’s a party to actually get excited about since there is gonna be some awesome artists not just scantily clad girls (who you’re never gonna get) walking around serving shots.  The venue is locked down (although undisclosed for now) and the artists are booked (your gonna love the lineup).  AdHustler.com will have passes and VIP tickets as the event draws closer so stay tuned.

Affiliate Ball is also still accepting sponsors for this party and judging the turnout at the Vegas party, this is probably the event you want to throw some money at if your looking for a sponsorship opportunity (Packages range from $250-$20k so there is something for every size company).  Email info[{at}]affiliateball.com or call 818-825-3972 and ask for Darren if you’re interested.
