List Building & Email Marketing Case Study

It’s been a while without a case study.  That’s about to change.

You always hear a lot of talk in the blogging community about how you should be collecting emails.  I feel like a lot of people talk about it but not as many people as you may think actually do it.  A lot of us PPC guys go for the quick sale but since we don’t collect data, we can’t ever remarket to the individuals who buy the products we push with PPC.  I have decided to take my PPC skills and attempt to build a list based on a niche I pick.  The initial goal is to collect 100 double opt-in email addresses, report to you how much that costs me and then figure out a way to make the money back (and hopefully turn a profit).  I will share some information with you and hopefully inspire you to attempt to build your own list.  My next post will be Part 1 of the List Building & Email Marketing Case Study.

  1. That’s great ad hustler. I incorporated opt-in form on pages late last year. Now I have over 4k emails. The only problem is, between then and now, I’ve been slapped 3 times by Google. It seems Google manual reviewers don’t like sign-up or opt-in forms on landing pages. Especially, if you’re NOT a big website or advertiser.

  2. Forgot to mention. I took my opt-in form down this time. It’s a hassle to deal with slaps. I rather have a slap-free long-term running campaign.

@Niche – Are you sure that the slap is a direct result of having the opt-in on the page?

  4. It had to be. I first ran the camping for 3 months without any slaps. Then started using aweber optin forms. Month later I was slapped. I quickly restarted the campaign under the different domain. Month later again slapped. Restarted it again, and then days later I was slapped. Now, I’m running it again but this time without an optin form. Will see how long it lasts.
