It's going to take a number of affiliates suing and winning against the networks to make things change. If they get away with not paying and there is little fall out - well there is no incentive to change said behavior.

I agree though - if an affiliate cheats ban them - if they don't pay them. It's the networks responsiblity to go after the funds --- even if they have to sue the merchant. I'm assuming there is some kind of contract or agreement.

If they are just depending on their T.O.S. to make it collectible well that's just not real bright.

Whodi, So your logic is that b/c some advertiser fucks off and doesn't pay, we should be left holding the bag? we didn't broker the deal with the advertiser so why is your problem passed down to us?

@Whodi - No doubt it's the advertisers fault. That's a given, but the network exists to act as a middleman between the advertiser. Otherwise we don't need the network. So as long as an affiliate does not do anything fraudulent THEY SHOULD BE PAID. Whatever terms the network has with the advertiser is their problem. If they are having problems with payment, change the terms to make them pay up front. Whatever it takes.

Also if your a network owner, your a real pussy for posting anonymously.

Why don't you want to be logical? It's the advertisers lacking the funds.. I think there's too much load on the network owners here.. THINK before you blame others, seriously -- even if you're an affiliate, consider both sides of the game and realize there's not fuckin' logical ground when you cover $ in the masses just because an advertiser doesn't feel like paying.. Seriously. There are LOTS of losses a network takes, like floating $ in the long hall just to pay for affs quicker, but HEY it's part of the game and we don't complain. So quit bitching about how the industry should change, it's the advertisers being lazy about paying.. KKTHX.. Sometimes you needa get past the bullshit hype you get from somebody like Jon and THINK.. Recap homie, get yo shit Str8 cuz you fuckin FLAKE as of now.

what a post! first network to take up Jon on his offer will get me as a customer signing up through the WF banner. Was about to signup for a few more anyway, but Hydra is out of the question for now.

@Wayne - Agreed. If the network isn't going to protect the affiliate and actually PAY them (assuming they didn't break the rules) then what exactly is their job?

From the way Jon is coming out guns blazing it sounds like he knows the affiliate who got shafted personally and knows Hydra is dead wrong. This kind of thing is why I usually try as much as possible to split my companies revenue up between multiple networks so even if one screws me over (some have tried but in the end all paid to date) I will still have all the profit from the other networks. Gotta think smart and protect yourself, putting all your eggs in any one basket is never a good idea.

I have with Hydra on a limited basis but I haven't had any issues but they are extremely anal with many things so it leads me to believe they have been screwed over by a few advertisers before (what network hasn't). I believe the OP that he has been wronged and it's complete bullshit and one of the worst parts of this industry. Many advertisers are clueless or downright shady (in this case even big Mike from Copeac called the advertiser out as he stopped working with them for the same reasons) but IT"S THE NETWORKS RESPONSIBLITY to collect from the advertiser and pay their partners 100%. This is one of the only reasons I still use networks at this point and give them a few grand a day (in direct profit for them not just revenue) of my hard earned money, if they can't even cover your ass in an event like this than what the fuck am I paying them for... I can go direct and then if the adveriser screws me over eventually, well at least that few grand a day I was putting into my pocket instead of my favorite networks before getting fucked over would ease the blow.
