Some Ad:Tech Thanks

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Meetin' Mad Peeps | Posted on 17-11-2009

I know that I’m late to the Ad:Tech party, but better late then never.  Ad:Tech was moved to the Jacob Javitz center this year.  It’s a much bigger venue and the show was very well done.  If you haven’t been to Ad:Tech NY yet, I highly suggest you check it out next year.  It’s a great place to find new traffic sources, vendors and meet up with old friends.  Thank you to Ad:Tech for having me at the event.

I did a few things throughout the week worth mentioning.

Dinner With Affiliate.com

Affiliate.com had a fun dinner at Carmines NYC.  The food is served family style which always makes for an intersting dining experience.  I sat at a table with Scott Richter, Brittany, Murray Newlands, Jay Weintraub and some other industry people.  It was a great time and I want to thank Brittany for inviting me and Scott Richter for having me!  Damn shame I forgot to pick up an affiliate.com shirt because they had one of the coolest shirts at the show.

KARAKTR Media Cocktail Party

I’ve known Luke from Karaktr Media for quite some time.  He invited me to their cocktail party.  It was at this weird venue where you had to walk through a maze of halls and elevators to get to the party area.  It was kind of spooky and kind of cool at the same time.  The party was a blast.  Drinks were flowing and I got to hang out with some of my favorite industry people like Waynedog, Bryn Youngblut and Dr Ngo.  Thanks to Karaktr.

Pinnacle Dream VIP Area At Heroes And Headliners

Pinnacle Dream have always been really nice to me.  They invited me and Bryn to chill in their VIP table service area at the Pacha Party.  It was good times and a fun club.  Wes from Pinnacle Dream knows that I don’t drink alcohol so he smuggled Mexican Coke’s (made with real sugar) all the way from California into the club for me.  It was a nice gesture and the Cokes were good.  Thanks to Pinnacle Dream for having me.

Anyone else do cool stuff at Ad:Tech?

Please Note: I did receive a Press Pass to Ad:Tech which get’s me in for free however, all statements and thoughts are my own opinions.

Elite Clicks Media Swims With The Sharks

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Affiliate Marketing | Posted on 11-11-2009

For some time now I’ve enjoyed watching ABC’s “Shark Tank.”  It’s a show where 5 investors (AKA sharks) sit around a table and entrepreneurs pitch them into buying a percentage of their companies.  One of the investors is Kevin Harrington.  Kevin is a pioneer in the infomercial and direct response space having launched The Obama Coin, Billy Mays products, Tony Little’s products and much more.

At Ad:Tech NY 2009 I ran into a friend of mine, Ryan Machara.  Ryan is the Founder/CEO of Elite Clicks Media.  He told me that he’d like to introduce me to someone.  This someone was Kevin Harrington.

Kevin Harrington - ECM - Ad Hustler

It turns out that Kevin is now a partner in Elite Clicks Media.  I think this was a smart move by both Kevin Harrington as well as Elite Clicks Media.  By having Kevin, ECM get’s a strategic partner with 25 years in the direct response industry and a $4 Billion sales track record.  Kevin gains access to the affiliate marketing industry as well as proven large volume publishers, which gets him an alternative sales channel to push his products.

As of now, ECM has your typical affiliate network products such as diet, freebies, dating, downloads etc..  Since Kevin sees thousands of products with potential that just can’t work on TV due to the huge outlay in developing an infomercial and buying TV media, he will be bringing some of those products to the affiliate network.

I think the synergy between Kevin & Elite Clicks Media is strong and will make them a team to watch in 2010.

Google To Acquire AdMob

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Social Media | Posted on 09-11-2009

I got this press release today in my email and found it pretty interesting.  Figured I’d Share:

Today we announced that AdMob has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Google for $750 million. We are extremely excited about this new partnership and what it means for our advertiser, developer and publisher partners.

AdMob’s people, products and tools will continue to work to deliver successful campaigns for you and to effectively monetize your mobile traffic – no interruptions.  Our product and engineering teams will keep building great products for our customers. Our sales team will keep working with our thousands of advertisers to deliver successful campaigns. Our business development team will keep working to maximize ad revenue for the more than 15,000 mobile Web sites and applications that make up AdMob’s publisher network.

After our deal closes, AdMob will work with Google to accelerate the pace of innovation in mobile and do an even better job for you. We believe this deal will benefit our advertisers, developers and publishers by:

*Increasing our investment in building innovative and engaging ad units across platforms and to further improve targeting and tracking.

*Building even more powerful relevance and optimization capabilities, and more powerful technology and tools to monetize mobile traffic.

*Increasing the effectiveness of display advertising on mobile devices by leveraging Google sales team, infrastructure and relationships.

*Improving the already high level of service and support we deliver to our advertisers, developers and publishers.

You can read more about this deal at www.admob.com/google.

It’s interesting to see Google keeping up with the latest trends and aquiring new networks and mediums to place their ads.  Google obviously has plans to place ads everywhere that ads can be placed.
What do you think about this acquisition by Google?

I Ask For Hardcore Gangsta And This Is What I Get

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Bustin Kneecaps | Posted on 05-11-2009

Ad:Tech NY 2009 has been a blast.  All of the exhibiting booths have their gimmicks.  One booth that was setup was called “We Design Garbage Logos {Name Withheld To Protect The Terrible.”  They had your typical stupid booth girls that couldn’t answer any questions but they said they would design a free logo for me.  This made my pants wet so I had to try it (just for fun).  They asked what style logo I would like.  I asked for “Hardcore Gangsta.”  This is what I got:

hardcore-gangsta

That is a terrible logo if I do say so myself.
