There are certain questions that you always see thrown about on affiliate marketing forums.  How much does the average affiliate make?  How many domains does the average affiliate own? etc. etc. etc.  Shawn Collins & Missy Ward put together a pretty awesome survey to try to accumulate some stats about affiliates.  It’s an intriguing read:

Make Money With Twitter Tutorial

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Social Media | Posted on 09-06-2009

Twitter is growing by leaps and bounds and it’s time to take advantage of it’s abundance of free traffic.  The concept of making money with Twitter is pretty simple.  You build demographically targeted lists of twitter users and then you can market to these users through the use of your tweets.  This tutorial will teach you everything you need to know to make money with Twitter:

Find A Niche

Decide what niche you want to target.  Do some research using the “find people” tool as well as search.twitter.com to find a demographic that is plentiful on twitter.  If 10,000 people are writing about losing weight then chances are there are enough users in that niche to make it profitable.

Start A Twitter Account

This part is crucial.  When you sign up for the account do it under an assumed identity related to your demographic.  For instance if you are trying to sell diet pills, you are a middle aged women.  When you create the profile you create a short bio about yourself.  In this bio you should tell the twiiter users how you used to be a cow but now your thin and sexy and want to help them become a sex goddess just like you are.  Create a relevant background and icon.  The key here is DO NOT BE SPAMMY.  You are representing yourself as a real person who is obsessed with helping people {fill in the blank}.

Incubate the Account

The name of the Twitter game is auto content generation.  You don’t want to be sitting there tweeting your days away to create content for these accounts.  What you are going to do is find RSS feeds related to your topic.  It doesn’t matter where you get these as long as they are relevant and you have a variety of them.

Sign up for TwitterFeed.com – TwitterFeed.com will feed these RSS feeds into your twitter profile in the form of tweets.  The TwitterFeed service is self explanatory.  You put in your twitter user name and password, select a few options and it starts “feeding your Twitter.”  Most of the posts will come in the form of a Title Of An Article and then a link.

I would let the account incubate for a few days just feeding it content.  You may see that you get some followers.  The reason for this is that people use search.twitter.com to find interesting tweets.  If they find your tweets interesting they may follow you.  Sweeet.

Gain Followers

The whole principal of gaining followers is pretty easy.  People want to feel important so by following them, you make them feel important.  In turn, as long as your content is relevant to them, chances are very good that they will follow you back.

You can gain followers in a number of ways:

1) Wait it out and see a small trickle of people follow you because of your content.

2) Manually find people you want to follow you, follow them and hope they follow you back.

3) Automate #2 for huge results.

Automation is my favorite course of action.  In order to do this you need a program such as TwitterSnipe.  What TwitterSnipe does is watches for new tweets on Twitter that contain a particular keyword that you are interested in.  If you are going to try to sell diet related products you would probably be interested in people that have tweets with the following keywords or pharses:

“lose weight”
“diet”
“feel fat”
….you get the point.

TwitterSnipe will watch in real time for your predefined keywords and then follow that user.  Follow back rates tend to be very good because your profile is very very highly targeted towards what they are tweeting about.  They are also actually online since this is done in real time and that also helps in getting followers.

Follower Limits

There are limits in place to prevent spamming on Twitter.  You should be aware of these limits if you are going to start trying to gain followers.

1,000 Maximum Follows Per Day
2,000 Maximum Follows Total Before Follow Ratios Start To Kick In

After you are following 2,000 people (which technically you can do in 2 days with automated software) twitter limits the amount of follows you can can add to your profile based on your follower ratio.  After following 2,000 people you can only follow about 10% of your followers.  In other words if you have 2100 followers you can only follow another 210 people that day.  You need to try to keep your following to follower ratio as high as possible.  One way to do this is by using a mass unfollow tool and after a certain amount of time just unfollowing everyone who’s not following you back.  Just be careful with these tools as sometimes they can trigger your account to get suspended.

Get Twitter Users Involved

At this point you should have a bunch of followers.  Probably to the tune of over 1,000.  You should now make a bunch of personal tweets in the account, telling your story….asking questions and generally just trying to involve people in the “conversation.”  Some of these tweets will probably get retweeted.  Involving your audience is key because I feel that Twitter monitors the response rate to see who is spamming and who isn’t.  The more you can involve your audience, the less likely I feel that your account is going to get suspended.

Monetization

So how exactly are we going to make money with this again?  Good question!  There are multiple ways to monetize a Twitter profile.  My favorite is as follows:

Use the eBay Partner Network.  eBay has products for any niche.  Grab an ebay RSS feed (with your affiliate link in it) for the niche that you want to target.  Put that feed into your TwitterFeed account and it will feed products to your twitter users the same way your content is being auto-generated.  You now basically have an automated monetized machine.  Content will keep being fed to your users as well as eBay products which you make a commission off of.  With eBay, the game is just setting as many cookies as you can because no matter what the user buys in the coming days will be credited to you as the referrer.

Don’t forget that any time a relevant CPA offer comes onto an affiliate network you can tweet about that as well.

You can also use twitter to build a mailing list and then market to the users later.

Automation Tip

TweetLater.com really simplifies your life.  You can preschedule tweets so that over time your users receive personalized tweets from you.  They also offer a ton of other tools to help manage your multiple Twitter accounts.

One feature that TweetLater offers is the ability to automatically DM (Direct Message) each new person who follows you.  This gives you the ability to make an initial contact with each and every new follower you aquire.

Now that you know what to do.  GET TO IT.  There’s a whole lot of talk in this industry and not a whole lot of action.  Buckle down for a few days, make a ton of Twitter account using the methods described above and get some alternative income coming in.

Please Note: I need to thank Ian Fernando for insisting that I learn about Twitter.  To tell the truth I really didn’t see any potential in it but he made me give it a try and I have to say it’s worthwhile to help diversify your income.

Test Your Landing Page Compatibility With Adobe BrowserLab

Posted by Ad Hustler | Posted in Web Design | Posted on 03-06-2009

When I create a landing page, I am super careful to make sure it’s compatible in all of the major browsers.  A messed up site equals less sales which equals less money.  I was reading my daily RSS feeds and stumbled upon Adobe BrowserLab.  Adobe BrowserLab allows you to input your URL and it takes screenshots of how your page looks on various browsers.  Their are a few other services out there that do similar things but most are paid services.  For now, BrowserLab is free.  Check it out and see if your landing page is cross browser compatible!
